Kiekeboe #102

Volume 102 of Merho's long-running Belgian series finds the Kiekeboe family on horseback before what appears to be the rose-red carved facades of Petra, Jordan — an irresistible backdrop for an adventure hinted at by the title "De Potloodmummie" (The Pencil Mummy). The cover captures the whole familiar gang in fine form, with the mustachioed Fernand leading the ride alongside the younger family members, all rendered in Merho's cheerful, expressive ligne claire style. A great 2004 entry that pairs the series' warm family comedy with a dash of ancient-world mystery.
