In "Ride Him Down," Kid Montana confronts an outlaw named Wild Bill after the Montana Drifter falls backward off a sapling, his hand dropping from his money belt. When Wild Bill attempts to take the cash, Kid Montana intervenes in a gunfight. The story also includes a subplot involving Oliver Grubb discovering Pete in a vault where a character named Chaka Moa had been cleaning oil; Oliver learns that Doc Mullins and his gang, whom Grubb had previously encountered, are planning to wreck the ranch, leading to a confrontation where Kid Montana must deal with the threat posed by Mullins and his crew.
