Kick-Ass #12

Marcelo Frusin's cover for this 2019 Image Comics installment sets a tense, uneven tone immediately: the new Kick-Ass, in her teal-and-gold suit, is caught in the crushing grip of a massive armored figure whose skull-faced helmet looms over her with menacing calm. The size difference alone tells a compelling story of danger and defiance, with her fists still clenched even in a clearly desperate moment. Steve Niles and Frusin's ongoing series continues to put its hero through the wringer, and issue #12 looks like no exception.
