Kaptara: Universal Truths #2

The second installment of Kaptara: Universal Truths from Image Comics arrives with one of the more unsettling cover images you'll find on shelves in 2023 — a stern, square-jawed figure whose body has been overtaken by a massive, writhing green plant-like organism, tendrils and bulbous yellow-tipped stalks spreading outward in every direction. The tension between that stoic human face and the alien biological mass consuming him sets an immediately compelling tone for this sci-fi series. Chip Zdarsky, Kagan McLeod, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou bring their distinctive sensibility to a title that clearly isn't afraid to go to strange, visually ambitious places.
