Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth #37

From the mid-1970s DC "Line of Super-Stars," this January 1976 issue of Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth delivers an immediate jolt of post-apocalyptic tension right on its cover. Joe Kubert's pencils and inks show the long-haired Kamandi desperately pulling at a trapped Doctor Canus — a dog-headed humanoid pinned in the rubble — while a menacing armored figure astride a roaring vehicle bears down on them alongside flanking riders, all beneath the urgent cover copy: "If the Red Riders catch us — we're doomed!" Inside, Jack Kirby writes and draws "The Crater People," with inks by D. Bruce Berry and lettering by Ben Oda, promising the kind of wild, imaginative adventure that defined this series.
