The Justice Society of America confronts the fallout from the arrival of the alternate-reality Superman and the threat of Gog, while exploring themes of legacy and faith. Issues #22–25 of the 2007 series are included, written by Geoff Johns with art by Dale Eaglesham and Alex Ross providing covers.
In "Out of Place," Superman confronts the weight of his legacy as Stargirl gently probes the past that brought him to this world. Drawn by the echoes of The Book of Revelation, he seeks out Norman McCay, only to be sidetracked by a haunting explosion at the Daily Planet—familiar, yet unexplained. With Alex Ross’s evocative art and storytelling, this issue captures a Superman grappling with identity, as Lois Lane’s quiet question cuts to the heart of his transformation: when was the last time he was Clark?
In "Out of Place," the Justice Society of America fractures as internal conflict over Gog's mission escalates, sending dissenting members back to headquarters—only to be stunned by the sudden return of Power Girl from Earth-2, pursued by the Earth-2 Justice Society Infinity. The story unfolds with the weight of divided loyalties and the unsettling arrival of a version of the JSA from another world, leaving the team on edge as old alliances are tested.
In "Earth Bound," the Justice Society of America races to Earth-2 to confront a shocking return, as the JSA Infinity captures Power Girl and drags her into a past she thought she’d left behind. With Earth-2’s Power Girl convinced her missing cousin holds the key to unraveling the mystery, only Starman possesses the fragmented truth that could change everything.
In "Kingdom Come Special: Superman," Jo finds herself drawn into a quiet reckoning as she prompts Superman to reflect on the weight of his return. When his words echo ancient prophecy, he seeks out Norman McCay, only to be sidetracked by a familiar blast at the Daily Planet—then met with silence from the man who once stood for hope. Later, Lois Lane confronts him with a simple, piercing question: when was the last time he was Clark? And in that moment, he admits he hasn’t been Clark since the day everything changed.
In "Magog, The Real Me," Magog leaves the JSA’s march toward Kahndaq after learning of his old unit’s presence in Africa, plunging into a violent mission that forces him to confront the past. Through flashbacks, he recalls the moment he found an artifact looted from the Baghdad Museum—its presence in his skin altering his life forever. The story unfolds as he completes his task and returns to Gog and the team, carrying the weight of what he’s become.
In "The Kingdom," as Gog halts his campaign for a single day, Damage returns to New York, fervently spreading his message of salvation. Stargirl enlists Atom-Smasher to confront him, but Damage remains unmoved by their warnings. Meanwhile, Sandman uncovers the chilling truth: Gog’s presence is not just a threat to cities, but to the planet itself.
In "Saints and Sinners," the Justice Society of America confronts the god Gog as the team must decide whether to risk undoing his blessings to save Earth from a fate tied to his presence. With the planet’s survival hanging in the balance, the JSA unites to dislodge Gog, only to face the consequences when he reclaims the gifts he once gave them.
In "Thy Will Be Done," Superman confronts the god Gog with Starman's aid, ultimately binding the entity to the Source Wall. With the threat contained, Superman asks Starman to return him to his own world—just as he was taken—so he can finish what he began.
