In the aftermath of Absolute Power, Gorilla Grodd finds that he has gained the mental abilities of the Martian Manhunter added to his own. He uses his enhanced powers to break free from prison and to form a new plan for world domination. Grodd realizes that he will need allies to battle against the Justice League Unlimited, and in the present day, most of his former allies in the Legion of Doom are not suitable for his needs, so he tricks Air Wave into working with him against the League and to be an unwitting participant in bringing the Legion of Doom from the past into the present.
