In "Be Careful What You Wish For...", a retired Kimiyo Hoshi returns home to find her sanctuary breached by the Shadow Cabinet, forcing her to send a desperate distress signal to the JLA. As Hardware intercepts her, Black Canary asserts her leadership during a tense interstellar meeting, while Iota and Hardware infiltrate the League's HQ to retrieve the remains of the first Dr. Light—only to be confronted by the rest of the team. The issue, written by Dwayne McDuffie and illustrated by Ed Benes with inks by Benes, Rob Hunter, Norm Rapmund, and Drew Geraci, features a cover by Ed Benes.

A retired Kimiyo Hoshi returns home to find her house has been invaded by the Shadow Cabinet. As she tries to find her sons, she is stopped by Hardware -- after she sends out a JLA distress signal. Meanwhile, Black Canary discovers the inter-spacial meeting room, and reminds Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to stop undermining her authority as team leader. As Hardware and Iota break into the League's headquarters to get the remains of the first Dr. Light, they are stopped by the rest of the League. Iota then brings the rest of the Shadow Cabinet members to the League's headquarters.
