Justice League Dark #27
Part of DC's sweeping "Forever Evil: Blight" crossover, this issue drops John Constantine — sharply dressed in his trademark rumpled suit and tie — into a hellish gauntlet as a horde of monstrous creatures, their chains broken and claws outstretched, surge toward him from a blood-red backdrop. A fallen figure lies at his feet while a hulking green beast looms from above, making the cover feel genuinely claustrophobic and threatening. Mikel Janín's pencils and inks bring visceral energy to the chaos, and with DeMatteis at the helm of Chapter 10 of 18, there's clearly a lot of dark road still ahead for the Justice League Dark.
