“Sanctuary”

Something strange is afoot in "Weird Science!" — the bold tagline on this 2003 issue of Justice League Adventures says it all. Eric Wight's cover depicts a deeply unsettling laboratory tableau: Superman restrained in a high-tech chair, The Flash suspended in a glowing containment tube, and a winged figure trapped in a glass dome, while Wonder Woman — disturbingly merged with a giant spider's body — operates the machinery at the center of it all, and a disembodied head floats in a green-lit canister below. Writer John Ostrander and artist Min S. Ku bring their talents to "Sanctuary," and this cover promises the League in seriously compromised shape before the story even begins.
