Jumbo Comics #24
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis anthology issue features multiple adventure stories, with the lead story being "Curse of the Black Venom," starring Sheena, Queen of the Jungle. Another prominent feature is "The Lightning," which follows Tom, Dick, and Harry, three rough-and-tumble adventurers who encounter military action, including a ship under fire from shore cannons and their desperate struggle to survive. Additional stories include Stuart Taylor and "The Hawk," along with "ZX-5 Spies in Action," and "Inspector Dayton," a mystery tale involving a two-headed lady of the circus and a riverboat captain's discovery that triggers a police investigation.
Sheena falls victim to a spitting cobra's venom while fighting a leopard, and Bob Reynolds races desperately to fetch Dr. Mohammed Bey from the coastal city of Mombasa—but time is running short, and not everyone wants the doctor to reach her in time. With the signal drums calling Africa's greatest witch doctors and warriors to Sheena's aid, three fugitives from the law see an opportunity to plunder the undefended villages while everyone's attention is elsewhere.
When a ferryboat captain witnesses something sinister being dumped into the river, Inspector Dayton arrives to find a gruesome discovery: a torso bearing two identical severed heads—evidence that points to the circus's famous Two-Headed Lady. As Dayton investigates the twins Mitzi Dolan and Flora Dolan, he narrows his suspects to three circus performers who each claim to have been with one of the women the night she died, but a piece of evidence hidden in the wrong tent and a deadly fall will force the inspector to uncover the real killer before the truth dies with the guilty.
