Jumbo Comics #17 is an anthology featuring multiple adventure stories. "The Lightning Breaks Loose" follows a red-suited hero who battles criminals and steel workers, using his lightning powers to combat enemies and ultimately trapping villains beneath a giant kettle. A second story, identifiable on page 36, involves a spy named ZX-5 uncovering a government plot; Arnold Crews, an inventor, is arrested on espionage charges, but ZX-5 discovers the plot has been exposed and works with political circles to alert the Secret Service and Army. A third story features a character named Dayton investigating the disappearance of someone named Bob, discovering a body and becoming entangled in a mystery involving a madman and a bank robbery, with Dayton eventually reviving and searching for someone named Wini.
