“The Warrior Kids of the Zomba-Zu”

In "The Warrior Kids of the Zomba-Zu," young Ginge finds herself caught in a wild whirlwind when a lion suddenly appears in a roadside diner—only to follow her into an airplane and straight into a clash between rival gangs. Matt Baker’s dynamic art and Bill Gibson’s sharp storytelling bring to life a surreal, high-stakes adventure where the line between danger and spectacle blurs. The cover by Joe Doolin captures the chaos perfectly, a 10-cent thrill from 1947.
