Jules Verne's Lighthouse #2

This Image Comics series draws on Jules Verne's adventurous spirit for something altogether more unsettling, and issue two's cover makes that tension viscerally clear. A red-haired woman clutches a futuristic firearm and looks back in alarm as a pale, bald, mask-like figure looms above her — winged with mechanical fan-like appendages and flanked by grasping clawed hands emerging from the shadows. Brian Haberlin's cover art (with colors by Geirrod Van Dyke) captures a real sense of dread, pairing sci-fi weaponry with something that feels genuinely alien and threatening — a strong visual promise from the creative team of Hine and Haberlin.
