☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects the second half of the classic Judge Dredd storyline featuring the tyrannical Judge Caligula, originally serialized in 2000 AD. It includes the conclusion of Caligula's insane reign over Mega-City One and Dredd's efforts to bring him down, written by John Wagner and Alan Grant with art by Brian Bolland and others. Part of Titan's early collected editions of Dredd material from the 1980s.
In "The Day the Law Died, Part 8: Exodus to Mutant Land," Walter’s desperate bid to expose the truth takes a dangerous turn when he steals the briefing tape Dredd believes was used to brainwash the other Judges. Captured by Judge Slocum, his fate seems sealed—until the Chief Judge, in a moment of surreal fury, literally pickles Slocum before he can betray him. Written by J. Howard and illustrated by Ewins with inks by McCarthy and letters by Thomas, this 1982 Titan issue features a cover by Mike McMahon and Brian Bolland, blending dystopian tension with the series’ signature absurdity.
In "The Day the Law Died, Part 10: Slicey, Slicey - Oncey, Twicey!", Judge Dredd finds himself stranded mid-air after a desperate escape from the Chief Justice's alien hunters, the road vanishing beneath his stolen tank. With no landing in sight and danger closing in from all sides, Dredd’s survival hinges on instinct and sheer will.
In "The Day the Law Died, Part 15: Trapped!", Dredd names Fergee a provisional Judge before the two slip into the city’s underbelly, only to find Dredd’s quarters under siege by reptilian aliens—and Walter the wobot fighting to hold the line.
In "The Day the Law Died, Part 17: Betwayal!", Judge Dredd races against time to uncover the truth behind a brainwashed judiciary, while Walter’s desperate bid to expose the conspiracy lands him in the hands of Judge Slocum. Just as all seems lost, the Chief Judge’s sudden, bizarre intervention throws the investigation into chaos—leaving Dredd to piece together a mystery that’s as twisted as it is deadly.
In "The Day the Law Died, Part 18: From Out of the Sewers!", Judge Dredd races against the clock to uncover the truth behind the brainwashed Judges, only to face a chilling revelation: the Chief Judge plans to unleash nerve gas across Mega-City One to preserve his vision of a "perfect" city—no matter the cost.
In "The Day the Law Died, Part 19: Dredd's Army!", Judge Dredd leads a desperate charge to reclaim Mega City 1 from the grip of Judge Caligula, freeing his fellow Judges from mind control to join the assault on the Hall of Justice. With the Chief Judge barricaded inside the Statue of Justice and nerve gas poised to flood the city, Dredd must push through the chaos to reach him—before time runs out.
