“A Better World, Part 1 of 2”

A commanding military-uniformed figure crackles with eerie green energy at the center of Freddie Williams II's striking cover, flanked by Power Girl, a blue-skinned hero, a red-haired woman in a green outfit, and a snarling black panther — all reacting to whatever threat "The Return of the Prince" heralds. Matthew Sturges kicks off a two-part story with this June 2011 issue, and the assembled JSA All-Stars look like they have their hands full. It's a confident, action-charged chapter from a creative team clearly hitting its stride.

The Prince escapes a metahuman psychiatric facility and heads to the JSA All-Stars Ranch to convince his "teammates" that his mother Doctor Hate has altered time and that they must help him restore the real timeline, but Power Girl doesn't believe his story. Their fight, however, brings them to the feet of his mother herself, who says she has amazing news for her son.
