Meanwhile, the souls of Obsidian and Jakeem find a way out of the 5th Dimension with the Thunderbolt’s aid, and Kent Nelson’s spirit guides Khalid in reclaiming his power. Written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Diego Olortegui, with colors by Luis Guerrero and letters by Steve Wands, this pivotal chapter features a cover by Leonardo Romero.

Hourman and Jesse Quick travel to the Arctic to rescue Doctor Mid-Nite and Obsidian. On Blackhawk Island, the Injustice Society uses the Spear of Destiny against the JSA, but Hawkman and Hawkgirl return from Hell with Kid Eternity, who channels the powers of the deceased JSA members against the villains. The soul selves of Obsidian and Jakeem escape from the 5th Dimension with the help of the Thunderbolt. The spirit of Kent Nelson helps Khalid regain some of his lost powers.
