"Gallery of the Dead" features a woman named Lorna who discovers a vial she has carried for years and is attacked by hundreds of worms trailing an avenging slime, which she realizes represent the evil within herself. Another story follows a man named Kurt who is institutionalized after a traumatic experience in an abandoned house where he encountered the ghosts of two women hanged for murdering one of their lodgers, with the tale's resolution suggesting ambiguity about whether his nightmare was real. A third story depicts a French murder trial involving M'sieur Rougin, where a man confesses to killing another man's wife, leading to a tense courtroom revelation with the advocate's knife-wielding threat.
In a remote village shaped by hatred, a young girl named Lorna is raised by her vengeful grandmother, who instills in her a deep-seated fury toward men. Years later, after uncovering her grandmother’s dark secrets, Lorna begins to wield a terrifying power—turning men into worms with a kiss—using it to survive and exact revenge across Europe. As her journey brings her to New York, she faces a new and dangerous emotion: love, which threatens to unravel the life she’s built on fear and vengeance.
In the cold of a lonely night, down-on-his-luck traveler Kurt Swanson stumbles upon a strange boarding house on Oak Street, where the hostess Evelyn and her silent mother offer him shelter—though something about the place, and the woman who serves him, feels deeply wrong. As Kurt explores the house by candlelight, he becomes trapped in a terror that blurs the line between nightmare and reality, convinced he’s discovered a hideous secret in the attic, only to be pursued through the dark halls by unseen forces. When he finally escapes and is found by the sheriff, the truth of the house’s past is revealed—leaving Kurt’s experience hanging in the balance between madness and memory.
In "Your Head for Mine," a woman’s desperate plan to escape her wealthy husband sets off a chilling chain of events when her lover carries out the murder—only to find that the husband’s headless corpse refuses to stay buried. As the couple tries to build a new life, they’re haunted by a relentless, headless figure with a hunger for a new face. Written by an unknown hand and illustrated by an unknown artist, this 1952 horror-suspense tale turns a murder-for-profit scheme into a nightmarish reckoning.
In "Crawling Evil," Lorna, raised to despise men, discovers a witchcraft book that unleashes a terrifying obsession—turning men into worms and crushing them. When her rage turns against the one man she truly loves, the consequences spiral beyond her control. As worms emerge from the walls in a vengeful swarm, Lorna faces the horrifying price of her twisted crusade.
