Jonny Quest #5

History

The Comico Jonny Quest series launched in June 1986 under editor Diana Schutz, who shepherded the entire 31-issue run and later credited the Stevens Jade cover among her proudest editorial achievements. Writer William Messner-Loebs served as the series' consistent narrative voice throughout, while rotating artists — including series creator Doug Wildey, Steve Rude, Wendy Pini, and many others — gave each arc its own visual character; issue #5 paired Messner-Loebs with penciler Mitch Schauer and inker John Nyberg. Comico held the Hanna-Barbera license from 1986 to 1988, during which time it also ran concurrently (though independently) with a new Hanna-Barbera Jonny Quest TV revival that was in production at the same time.
