“Two Finger Discount: Part Four”

The concluding chapter of "Two Finger Discount" arrives with a cover that says everything about the noirish tension Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso have been building — a hard-faced man levels a revolver dead at the viewer, his expression cold and unyielding, while a "Greetings from San Francisco" postcard sprawls across the foreground in bold red letters. Mark Chiarello's cover work is striking in its economy, using a limited palette of burnt reds, black, and white to evoke classic pulp menace. It's a sharp, atmospheric close to Vertigo's four-issue series, and a fitting sendoff for a private eye who was, as the tagline promises, "Born to trouble.
