Three heavily armed roughnecks surround a downed figure in a murky, moonlit swamp setting — and the story title "Too Mean to Die" says everything you need to know about the odds Jonah Hex is up against. Jordi Bernet's cover art is gritty and atmospheric, with deep shadows, leveled guns, and a lit cabin in the background that perfectly captures the desperado spirit of DC's frontier anthology. Writers Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti were consistently delivering some of the sharpest Western storytelling around in 2010, and this issue looks like no exception.
