Jonah Hex #32
Jordi Bernet's cover for this August 2008 issue sets a beautifully grim tone — a scarred, weathered Jonah Hex crouches low among desert gravestones, twin pistols drawn, silhouetted against a blood-red sunset sky dotted with cacti. The graveyard setting and coiled-spring tension in Hex's stance make it clear that trouble has followed the bounty hunter somewhere he really shouldn't have to fight. With Palmiotti and Gray spinning the story and Bernet handling both line and ink duties, "The Matador" looks like another sharp, unforgiving chapter in DC's Western series.
