January 1950 brings a delightfully wintry scene from Ham Fisher, with the big-hearted boxing champ Joe Palooka taking a tumble on the ice rink — skates flying, arms flailing — while a couple of smaller figures wipe out behind him in a snowy chain reaction. The cover teases "Joe's Toughest Fight," tied to the Pinkney-Grimes bout story inside, but out here on the ice it's gravity that's getting the upper hand. Humphrey and Little Max are also along for the fun, making this a charming, lighthearted package from Harvey's long-running monthly series.
