The main story, "Mystery of the Ghost Ship," follows Joe and a companion who are rescued at sea after a shipwreck and find a mysterious bottle with a message from another wreck. They discover an abandoned ship and encounter a beautiful woman named Melody and her associates, who are involved in some kind of scheme related to valuable flower seeds and an airplane. Joe becomes suspicious of the operation and must navigate the deception while trying to help Chickie, a former Marine who has recently resigned from service and needs employment as a pilot.
