JLA: Act of God #2

The second chapter of Doug Moench's three-part prestige-format Elseworlds story drives home its central image with striking force: a bird's-eye view of a cracked city street littered with the fallen bodies of costumed heroes — figures in the red-and-yellow of the Flash, the green-and-red of Green Lantern, and a host of other JLA members — their powers apparently stripped away, leaving them sprawled and helpless on the asphalt. Cover art by Dave Ross frames the scene from a dizzying overhead angle, with a caped figure in red and gold standing at the edge of the frame, surveying the devastation below. Titled "Fallen Angels," this 2001 DC release makes its premise viscerally clear: even Earth's mightiest champions can be brought low.
