History

The Jeff the Land Shark (2025) limited series was announced at ComicsPro and represents the culmination of Jeff's slow-burn rise from a background gag in West Coast Avengers (2018–2019) through the Eisner Award-winning It's Jeff! Infinity Comics. Writer Kelly Thompson — Jeff's co-creator — explicitly framed the series as an opportunity to tell more structurally complex Jeff stories than the nearly wordless short-form digital strips allowed, citing the character's breakout in the Marvel Rivals video game (December 2024) as the opening that made a print miniseries viable. Tokitokoro takes over interior art duties from Gurihiru (who contributed covers to the series), bringing a distinct but complementary visual sensibility to the expanded, dialogue-driven format.
