In East Berlin, the reclusive puppet maker Dockmakaren Himmer becomes an unlikely ally to a group of would-be defectors, offering them sanctuary in his shadowed workshop. When East German soldiers close in, he unleashes his creations—dolls that move with unnatural grace and reveal themselves as young vampire girls, turning the tide in a violent, blood-soaked confrontation. As the sun rises, the dolls crumble to ash, exposing their true nature. And in the aftermath, the chilling truth emerges: Dockmakaren Himmer himself is not human, but a living puppet of wood and hidden purpose.

Photographer Mike discovers that an old lens he bought from a Hindu trader reveals hidden truths—visions of things unseen in the ordinary world. As he begins to document the unseeable, the line between reality and the uncanny blurs, and with it, the safety of his friends Oscar and Gregory.
