Jack Kirby's Fourth World #8
In "Godhood's End," Scott Free and Metron—hidden in plain sight in 1920s Kansas—finally shed their quiet lives when Scott’s use of Apokoliptian tech in a bar forces a reckoning. With a flying car built by Metron ready for the road, the two prepare to leave behind their decade-long disguise and head toward whatever comes next. Written and drawn by John Byrne, with colors by Noelle Giddings and letters by Byrne, this 1997 issue features a striking cover by Walter Simonson.

Back in the early twentieth century, Scott Free and Metron have spent the last ten years in Kansas, mostly trying to fit in, but Scott is tired of the subterfuge. He openly uses Apokoliptian technology to subdue some troublemakers in a bar, and Metron decides it's time for them to move on, having finished building a flying car for them to travel to another city.
