It Really Happened #4

"It Really Happened" is an anthology featuring stories based on historical events. One story depicts Dr. David Livingstone's exhausting four-month journey to Nyangwe on the Congo River, where he encounters the native chief Tippoo Tib and witnesses the devastating slave trade practices that have decimated Central African villages. Another story chronicles Rear Admiral Charles Wilkes' command of the U.S.S. San Jacinto during the Civil War, including the controversial boarding of the British mail-packet Trent to seize Confederate representatives, an act that nearly caused war with England but for Queen Victoria's intervention. A third story follows Chaplain Albert J. Hoffman's heroic actions during World War I, including his service with the 34th Division in the muddy trenches of France, where he voluntarily risks his life to aid wounded soldiers under fire.
