Iron Man #164
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeIron Man squares off against a towering, dark-robed villain wielding a glowing staff in what looks like a castle or dungeon setting, with a white horse visible at the edge of the scene — and the cover's own tagline puts it perfectly: "He may look like a man of the cloth — but he's really a deadly Chessman!" This November 1982 issue introduces readers to the Bishop, and Luke McDonnell and Brent Anderson deliver a cover that makes the size and menace of the armored antagonist feel genuinely imposing against Tony Stark's red-and-gold armor. With Denny O'Neil writing and the story titled "Deadly Blessing," this is a fun slice of early-'80s Marvel at its most atmospheric.
