Invaders #8

This 2019 installment of Invaders — uniting Captain America, Namor, and the Winter Soldier — comes with a striking cover by Butch Guice that says everything about the tension at the heart of this series: a coolly composed Namor in a sharp suit stands before the enormous, blazing visage of the Iron Torch, whose fire-wreathed face radiates barely contained fury. The header banner's declaration that "The Iron Torch Declares War!" makes the stakes unmistakably clear, and the contrast between Namor's icy composure and the Torch's roaring flames is a genuinely arresting visual. With Chip Zdarsky writing and a creative team that includes Carlos Magno and colorist Alex Guimarães bringing the heat, "Dead in the Water Part II" looks like exactly the kind of war-of-titans chapter this series has been building toward.
