Proving herself every bit as capable as a man, Dr. Love obtains a permit from Jungle Patrol Col Weeks to be the 1st explorer of the Veiled Lady volcano. Crashing inside the volcano communications are cut off as she reports seeing a 'gigantic b...' The Phantom attempts a rescue mission, entering the volcano himself and finding giant insects and other lifeforms. Finding the pair the Phantom discovers the volcano is no longer sleeping and is about to erupt. Unable to return the way he came in the Phantom discovers the headwaters of the Hot River, and using the helicopter as a raft they float out.
