This anthology issue contains three stories: "Manzar the White Indian" and "The She-Wolf of Smoking River," which depict a warrior on horseback confronting a large bear; "Starlight" by Ann Adams, in which a huntswoman named Starlight is called wild and tempestuous, and pursues game including a great horned moose with a frightened friend; and "Long Bow," credited to Captain Stuart Kerrigan, featuring a young archer named Long Bow who tracks a baying wolf-cougar with his uncle through wilderness terrain, following warm trail prints that vanish, and encounters a leopard in the forest while hunting with his uncle and a character named Mink.
