The issue contains two stories: "General Nelson A. Miles: The Hero of the Plains," which recounts how youth Bill "Silent" Williams was inspired by tales from frontiersman Rafe Blake to venture west in 1806, only to be captured by Osage Indians in a trap after injuring his ankle, leading to his eventual submission to captivity; and "Little Eagle and the Crystal Eye of Yhatza," in which Magic Arrow pursues a mysterious Seneca ceremonial bead during a Huron war expedition, encountering a gypsy and discovering sacred artifacts that lead to a magical arrow returning with a shining prize.
