Incredible Hulk #20
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThe cover of Incredible Hulk #20 is a genuinely unsettling trip through Bruce Banner's fractured psyche — a small, terrified Banner crawls desperately along the ground while a crowd of monstrous green figures looms over him, including a grimacing Hulk in a clown costume with a red nose, a reptilian creature, and other hulking green forms wearing a suit and a fedora. Ron Garney's pencils and Sal Buscema's inks give the whole tableau a claustrophobic, fever-dream intensity that makes "Escape from Banner's Brain!" feel like exactly the right tagline. Part seven of "The Dogs of War," this 2000 Marvel issue finds writer Paul Jenkins deep in psychologically rich territory that the series was doing so well at the time.
