Incognegro: A Graphic Mystery #[nn]
In "Incognegro," journalist Zane Pinchback returns to the segregated South after learning his brother has been arrested for murder, using his ability to pass as white to investigate the case from the inside. With the Ku Klux Klan closing in and the truth about the victim far more tangled than it seems, Zane must navigate a dangerous web of deception and identity. Written by Mat Johnson and illustrated with striking precision by Warren Pleece—whose cover art complements the story’s tense, atmospheric tone—this powerful graphic mystery unfolds with quiet intensity.

Zane Pinchback is an African-American journalist whose light skin tone enables him to pass for 'white' and publish exposes on the Ku Klux Klan. Learning his brother has been arrested for murder, Zane returns to the south he'd left behind but everything about the murder proves complicated as the murder victim isn't who everything thinks it is and the Klan have almost figured out who Zane is.
