This issue of Immortal Hulk carries a somber dedication to Stan Lee (1922–2018) at the top of its cover, a fitting tribute framing one of the series' most haunting images. Alex Ross renders the Hulk crouched low against a scorched, hellish landscape bathed in deep crimson and amber, his expression somewhere between anguish and barely restrained fury, while towering columns of writhing human figures spiral into a burning sky behind him. Al Ewing and Joe Bennett's darker, horror-inflected take on the Green Goliath is perfectly captured in that painted cover — a world that looks every bit like hell, just as the story title promises.
