Illuminati #7

The cover of Illuminati #7 pulls you in with a visceral, fiery image of a figure overwhelmed — mouth open in a scream, eyes wide with terror, as glowing tentacles and a swarm of monstrous, snapping mouths engulf them in waves of deep crimson and orange. It's a striking, atmospheric piece from Shawn Crystal, whose expressive linework and John Rauch's smoldering color palette give the whole thing an almost nightmarish intensity. Joshua Williamson's 2016 Marvel series has clearly built to something unsettling here, and this issue looks like a compelling chapter in that ride.
