Huntress: Year One #1
The opening chapter of this six-issue DC miniseries takes Helena Bertinelli back to the very beginning, framed under the "Year One" banner that promises the whole origin story. Matthew Clark's cover splits the image compellingly — the Huntress herself dominates the left half in full costume, crossbow drawn and expression steel-cold beneath her distinctive mask, while the right panel juxtaposes a shadowy menacing figure looming in a doorway above a frightened young girl clutching a gold cross. It's a striking visual contrast between the fierce, capable vigilante Helena became and the vulnerability of the child she once was, setting up exactly the kind of grounded, character-driven drama that writer Ivory Madison and artist Cliff Richards deliver across this series.
