Human Torch #3

The third chapter of "Burn" arrives with one of Marvel's most visually striking covers of 2003 — Skottie Young's pencils and Pierre-André Déry's inks delivering the Human Torch as a roiling mass of orange and red flame, exploding outward in a blinding burst of fire and debris that fills the entire image. Johnny Storm looks completely consumed by his own power here, his flaming form surging forward with raw, almost uncontrolled intensity. Karl Kesel and Skottie Young's creative partnership is clearly swinging for the fences on this arc, and this cover alone makes it easy to see why.
