Peter Milligan and Cliff Chiang's Human Target was one of Vertigo's sharpest crime series, and issue #20 — the second chapter of the three-part "The Stealer" — arrives with a cover by John Watkiss that sets a genuinely unsettling scene. From a high, tilted angle we see a tense figure in a tan coat, gun drawn, looming over two bodies sprawled across a cluttered kitchen workspace, while a second armed figure crouches in the foreground, pistol raised. The cool, shadowy palette and tight, claustrophobic framing make this a standout moment in the run's 2005 lineup.
