Hulk #9
There's something delightfully offbeat about this cover from John Tyler Christopher: a green-skinned Hulk pulls a fierce, doodled-on scowl face while flashing a peace sign, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a grinning red-haired figure in a cat mask that's been similarly graffitied with marker scrawls. The playful, photo-booth energy makes this one of the more unexpectedly charming entries in the 2017 Marvel lineup. With Mariko Tamaki writing and art from Julian Lopez, Francesco Gaston, and colors by Matt Milla, issue #9 pairs genuine humor with the sense that things might be a little wilder than they appear.
