Hulk #5/1980
In "Uppdrag: Förgör monstret!", Ross returns from Russia to deliver the devastating news that Betty’s husband died saving his life—shattering her mind and sending her to a sanitarium. When Bruce visits to help, Betty’s rage erupts, driving him to transform into the Hulk, only to be met with her fury. M.O.D.O.K., observing from the shadows, sees an opportunity: to weaponize her grief and turn her against the very monster she now despises.
In "Uppdrag: Förgör monstret!", Betty is transformed into the Harpy after M.O.D.O.K. subjects her to a deadly dose of gamma radiation. Driven by rage over her husband's fate, the Harpy manipulates the Hulk's compassion to defeat him, while military power shifts as Thunderbolt Ross is replaced by Colonel Armbruster in charge of Project Greenskin.
In "Olyckskorpen," the Hulk and the Harpy are caught in a violent tornado that whisks them to a mysterious floating city. There, they face the enigmatic Bi-Beast, who forces the Hulk—now transformed into Bruce—to repair the city’s failing systems. As Bruce struggles to maintain his humanity, he secretly works to restore the Harpy to her true form, unaware that M.O.D.O.K. is already plotting to seize control. With time running out and the city’s fate hanging in the balance, the Bi-Beast activates a final defense, setting the stage for an explosive climax.
