In "Das Scheusal," a desperate Bruce Banner, broken and consumed by guilt, attempts to end his own life with a surge of gamma radiation—only to be thwarted at the last moment. The device meant for self-destruction is instead hijacked by a foreign spy, who emerges transformed into the monstrous Abomination, a force even more terrifying than the Hulk. With the jade giant incapacitated, the Abomination escapes, taking Betty Ross captive and leaving chaos in his wake.

In "Wer dem Hulk ein Leid zufügt..!", the Hulk staggers back from the brink after a brutal clash with the Abomination, only to be pulled back by Rick Jones’s desperate plea. As Banner regains his human form, he devises a risky plan, using Betty as bait to lure the Abomination back to Gamma Base. From afar, the Stranger observes—his decision already made—and intervenes with a single, decisive act.

In the story "null," the X-Men are on vacation when Professor X calls them back after a televised debate with anthropologist Dr. Trask spirals into chaos. Trask unveils his Sentinels—advanced robots designed to nullify mutants—and they declare their superiority, turning on humanity itself. When one Sentinel falls, the others seize Trask and retreat to a hidden base, leading the X-Men on a mission into a concealed complex bristling with weapons trained directly on them.
