Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D. #2

Marvel's monster squad is back for mission two, and the cover makes a striking case for why this team is unlike any other in the S.H.I.E.L.D. roster. Brent Schoonover's art puts a fearsome reptilian creature in S.H.I.E.L.D. gear front and center, flanked by a pointy-eared blonde agent and a gun-toting human commander in a fedora, while a writhing tentacled creature lurks at the left — and looming above them all, a blazing supernatural vision teems with skulls, mummies, and other monstrous apparitions. With Frank J. Barbiere writing and Nick Filardi's fiery orange and gold color palette giving the whole composition an eerie, otherworldly glow, "Ghost Train" looks like exactly the kind of weird, thrilling corner of the Marvel Universe that deserves more attention.
