Howard the Duck #9

Marvel's most put-upon waterfowl finds himself literally trapped inside a vintage television set on Joe Quinones' wonderfully deadpan cover — Howard pressing his face and hands against the screen with wide, desperate eyes while the set's rabbit-ear antenna stands tall above him. The cover even winkingly admits the metaphor/simile confusion in its own banner text, perfectly capturing the sardonic wit Chip Zdarsky brings to the series. And if that weren't enough, the issue proudly — and somewhat disbelievingly — promises a special guest appearance by Lea Thompson herself, whose smiling portrait beams from the corner medallion.
