Howard the Duck #7
Howard the Duck wades through an eerie, moonlit swamp in this September 1980 Marvel magazine-format issue, his blue jacket and wide eyes suggesting he's very much out of his depth — and rightfully so, given the looming, shadowy swamp creature lurking in the darkness behind him and a wide-eyed woman in a pink dress. John Pound's painted cover work gives the whole scene a genuinely unsettling pulp-horror atmosphere that sits in delightful contrast to Howard's cartoon form. Inside, writer-artist-inker-letterer Trina Robbins takes full creative control for "Trina's Tryout," making this a notably solo-crafted chapter in Howard's ongoing misadventures on a world gone mad.
