“Death Kiss”

In "Death Kiss," reporter Ken follows a haunting lead from a ghostly woman who materializes in a cloud of pipe smoke—Honey, the murdered sister of plantation owners Hugh and Sonia. Drawn to the Scarlett Acres estate, Ken uncovers a deadly secret buried in the tobacco fields, where Honey’s spirit seeks justice. With art by Ken Landau and a striking cover by Don Heck, this chilling 1953 tale blends Southern Gothic dread with supernatural retribution.

Reporter Ken is told by a female ghost--who appears in a cloud of pipe smoke--to visit the Scarlett Acres plantation. Owners Hugh and Sonia plan to murder Ken, but the ghost, Hugh's sister Honey, warns him. She says they murdered her and buried her in the tobacco fields. That's why she appears in smoke. To help Honey avenge herself, Ken tricks Hugh and Sonia into burning a barnful of tobacco. This gives Honey the power to destroy her murderers. Honey can now rest in peace.
