Hitomi #4

Issue four of Image's Hitomi puts the brutality of competitive sumo front and center — a massive wrestler looms over a bloodied, defiant opponent crouched low on the dohyo, dust and crimson spattering the bold title lettering between them. A tattooed observer watches from the foreground, giving the scene an atmosphere of grim ceremony rather than sport. HS Tak and Isabella Mazzanti's 2023 series continues to look like one of the most viscerally compelling things Image has published in a while.
