“Ace of Killers, Conclusion”

Garth Ennis and John McCrea bring the "Ace of Killers" arc to a close with this November 1997 issue, and the cover by McCrea makes it clear the finale isn't going quietly — a monstrous, skeletal creature with a gaping maw dominates the scene, grappling with a grinning gunman while a woman with a pistol flies off to one side and a purple-costumed figure crumples in the foreground. It's a chaotic, kinetic image that captures everything readers have come to expect from this series: dark humor, genuine menace, and a cast of dangerous people having a very bad day.
